The Holy Martyr John the Warrior lived back in the 4th century. But to this day, Orthodox Christians, both in Russia and in other countries, especially in Ukraine and Poland, offer prayers to John the Warrior for deliverance from all sorts of troubles and misfortunes.
The icon of John the Warrior and his relics are located in Constantinople in the Church of the Apostle John the Theologian. Lists of icons were widely distributed throughout the world. On these icons he is always depicted with his head uncovered, in military attire, and has with him the indispensable items:
- the cross is a symbol of the unshakable faith that he carried through all the trials;
- shield - as a sign of the Lord’s protection from all misfortunes;
- the spear is a symbol of the power given to him by God to fight sin and temptation.

Prayers for the protection of the lives of soldiers
Prayer of parents for children serving in the army
Lord, forgive them all the sins, voluntary and involuntary, that they committed before You.
Lord, guide them on the true path of Your commandments and enlighten their minds with the light of Christ for the salvation of the soul and the healing of the body. Lord, bless their service in the army, on land, in the air and in the sea, on the road, in flying and sailing, and in every place of Your dominion.
Lord, save them by the power of Your Honest and Life-giving Cross under the shelter of Your saints from a flying bullet, arrow, sword, fire, from a deadly wound, water drowning and vain death.
Lord, protect them from all visible and invisible enemies, from all trouble, evil, misfortune, betrayal and captivity.
Lord, heal them from every illness and wound, from every defilement and ease their mental suffering.
Lord, grant them the grace of Your Holy Spirit for many years of life; health and chastity in all piety and love in peace and unanimity with the rulers around them, near and far.
Lord, increase and strengthen their mental abilities and physical strength, healthy and prosperous, return them to their parental home.
All-merciful Lord, grant me, Thy unworthy and sinful servant (name), a parental blessing on my children (names) at this time of morning, day, night, for Your Kingdom is eternal, omnipotent and omnipotent. Amen".
Oh, Martyr of Christ John the Warrior! Brave in battle, and quick intercessor of Orthodox Christians in their troubles and misfortunes, by this grace from God! May our champion be strong against all our visible and invisible enemies. Grant victory to our army against our enemies, so that those who oppose us may humble themselves and come to their senses, and know the true God and His Holy Orthodox Church. Let us, sinners, be worthy to glorify the Lord our Savior in His Kingdom together with you forever. Amen.
How to pray correctly
Lists of the image of John the Warrior, decorating a large number of churches, are found not only in Ukraine and Russia, but also in other countries. The strongest prayer many times saved the fate of those who sincerely believed in the power of the face and relics.
About other powerful prayers:
- Strong prayer to Nicholas the Wonderworker for healing
- Strong prayer to Matrona of Moscow for health
- The clergy recommend washing your face and hands with holy water before the process. First you need to clear your mind by reading the sacred words about the salvation of your soul. You need to turn directly to the Lord, in a deep state of repentance.
- Any prayer addressed to John must remain within the framework of piety and compassion. You should not respond to a crime with a bad word, bringing upon yourself the sin of condemnation. For each petition there is a separate prayer with specific words; it is recommended to memorize them well.
- The prayer service ends with the sign of the cross, a deep bow and thanksgiving.
On a note! More often the great martyr is depicted with dark hair and a short beard. He is dressed in a knightly outfit typical of that time. However, the original images are rarely correctly identified because John is similar to many other martyrs who served in the military field.
WHAT ORTHODOX PRAYER TO READ FROM THIEVES
To protect against theft, you can read a prayer in front of some icons of the Virgin Mary. Prayers in front of the icons of Kazan, the Sign, and the Unbreakable Wall are very powerful. Orthodox priests advise hanging these icons above the front door to protect yourself from a thief and an evil person. The Crucifixion of Christ, which is also hung above the entrance, also has great protective power. When leaving home, read a short prayer against theft in front of one of these icons, and sign the sign of the cross outside the door, and not a single thief will approach your apartment.
There have always been plenty of people who like to make money at the expense of others. And from time immemorial, people have been trying to protect their property, earned through hard work. At different times, the problem of salvation from thieves was solved in different ways. They posted guards, set traps, came up with ingenious labyrinths, and later learned to breed special guard breeds of dogs. With the development of civilization, methods of protecting property from thieves have also improved. Safes, various alarm systems, surveillance cameras, etc. were used. But the fruits of progress are available to everyone, and unscrupulous people have always come up with many ways to bypass the protection. Therefore, it is not surprising that people ask God for help and intercession, turning to Him with a prayer from thieves.
Which saints should recite the prayer against thieves?
In Orthodoxy, there is a tradition of reading the prayer from the thieves to the martyrs John the Warrior and Theodore Tiron. These two saints lived a hundred years apart in different parts of the globe, but they were united by love for God and unshakable faith in Him. About Saint John the Warrior, in the ancient legend about the saints, it is written that the Orthodox prayer to him warns of thieves. In the kontakion (short prayer) St. John is told, “Deliver me from evil theft.” According to Orthodox doctrine, the prayer against theft, read in front of the icon of Theodore Tyrone, has the same properties. You can also read a Christian prayer to both saints for the return of stolen goods and the identification of the thief. When going on a long trip and leaving your accommodation unattended, order a prayer service to one of these saints or read a canon with an akathist.
Orthodox text of prayers in Russian for protection from thieves to Archangel Michael
Lord, Great God, King without beginning, send, O Lord, Thy Archangel Michael to the aid of Thy servants (name). Protect us, Archangel, from all enemies, visible and invisible. O Lord the Great Archangel Michael! Destroyer of demons, forbid all enemies fighting me, and make them like sheep, and humble their evil hearts, and crush them like dust in the face of the wind. O Lord the Great Archangel Michael! Six-winged first Prince and Governor of the Heavenly forces - Cherubim and Seraphim, be our helper in all troubles, sorrows, sorrows, a quiet refuge in the desert and on the seas. O Lord the Great Archangel Michael! Deliver us from all the charms of the devil, when You hear us, sinners, praying to You, calling on Your Holy name. Hasten to our aid and overcome all who oppose us, by the power of the Honorable and Life-giving Cross of the Lord, the prayers of the Most Holy Theotokos, the prayers of the holy Apostles, St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, Andrew, for Christ's sake, the holy fool, the holy prophet Elijah and all the holy great martyrs: holy martyrs Nikita and Eustathius, and all our reverend fathers, who have pleased God from the ages, and all the holy Heavenly Powers.
O Lord the Great Archangel Michael! Help us sinners (name) and deliver us from cowardice, flood, fire, sword and vain death, from great evil, from the flattering enemy, from the reviled storm, from the evil one, deliver us forever, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Prayers before battle
First prayer
Mighty God, hold the destinies of men in Your hands! Do not remember my sins, and strengthen me from above with Your power against those who oppose us. Grant me a cheerful mind and a fearless heart, so that I will not be afraid of their fear, nor will I be embarrassed, but in the shadow of the sacred banners of our army I will remain faithful to my military oath to the end. In Your name, O Lord, I come, and Your will be done. Most Holy Theotokos, save us! Holy Archangel Michael, help us! Holy Guardian Angel, do not leave me! All saints, pray to God for us!
Second prayer to St. Martyr Theodore Stratelates
Lord God Almighty, do not abandon all those who trust in Your mercy, but protect them! Be merciful to me and protect me from the charms of the enemy by Your protection, so that I will not fall before my opponents, and may my enemy not rejoice over me. Stand before me, my Savior, in this feat for Your holy name. Strengthen me, confirm me, and give me the strength to stand courageously for You to the blood of my soul and lay down my soul out of love for You, just as You, having loved us, laid down Your soul on the Cross for us. Amen.
Third prayer to St. Archangel Michael, Archangel of God
Holy and great Archangel of God Michael, cast down the devil and his army from heaven! We resort to you with faith and we pray to you with love, be an indestructible shield and protect the Holy Church and our Orthodox Fatherland, protecting them with your lightning sword from all enemies visible and invisible. Be a guardian angel, a wise mentor and an assistant as our leader. Be the leader and invincible companion of our Christ-loving army, crowning it with glory and victories over our adversaries, so that all who oppose us will know that God and His holy Angels are with us. Amen.

Temples of John the Warrior
There are a total of twelve churches and chapels named after St. John the Warrior in several countries. In Ukraine: Donetsk, Poltava, Nikolaev, Kharkov, Druzhnivka (Donetsk region), Kremenchuk (Poltava region), Kyiv. In Russia: Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar (at the Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots), Vladikavkaz, Novokuznetsk, Moscow. Below we have provided detailed information about the two most popular and famous churches named after St. John.
Temple of John the Warrior on Yakimanka
The Church of John the Warrior was first mentioned in historical documents in 1625 as the “Church of John the Warrior”.
The location of those years was the bank of the Moscow River, closer to the Crimean Bridge. Today there begins the territory of the Central House of Artists and the intersection of Yakimansky and the second Babyegorodsky lanes. The building was located under a mountain and was constantly being flooded by the increasing floods of the reservoir. This continued until 1786, until the Vodootvodny Canal was built. We advise you to study the Prayers before starting work.
The construction of the temple itself began thanks to the efforts of the archer warriors, whose patron was Saint John the Warrior. The first version of the temple was built in a fairly short time, but it was not destined to stand for long. Since after the Streltsy uprising, all of them, along with all their families, were evicted from the city. The church remained empty, and was soon flooded during a terrible flood.
According to one of the folk legends, Peter the Great was driving along Yakimanka and saw a temple in the water, to which the laity were sailing en masse on boats. The king was struck by what he saw, and he ordered the temple to be rebuilt, but on a hill near Bolshaya Street itself. Peter allocated a large budget and sent a plan. His help did not end there; he personally came to supervise the construction process.
For the consecration of the church in 1717, Peter the Great sent vessels made of pure gold, a painting and a powder weight on a massive chain, which was hung at the entrance so that parishioners would remember to maintain order during services. An interesting fact: on the painting donated to the temple by Peter, one could see the inscription: “A pharmacy that heals sins.”
Temple of St. John the Warrior on Yakimanka schedule
The schedule of the Church of St. John the Warrior on Yakimanka is constantly changing, so it is better to check the latest information on the official website before your visit. However, the temple is open daily. Morning and evening liturgies, all-night vigil, evening prayer, small vespers, blessing of water, liturgies with the removal of the Life-Giving Cross, liturgies with watering, early liturgies, as well as liturgies with the rite of the Mother of God are held.
Composition of the parable: Acting rector Archpriest Gennady Geroev, Archpriest Georgy Mezentsev, Archpriest Alexei Palinov, Priest Anthony Smirnov, Deacon Daniil Semin.
Temple of John the Warrior Novokuznetsk
The Temple of John the Warrior is located on the very outskirts of the city of Novokuznetsk, not far from the Zyryanovskaya mine. The road to it lies through a steep climb, which is quite difficult for the elderly and people with disabilities. The structure is made of carved wood. The large Orthodox cross visible on the hill to the right of the temple is made from it. It was installed in honor of the miners who died at work. The church is surrounded by small village houses and beautiful landscapes. From the window you can immediately see the face of the Mother of God.
In the Church of St. John in Novokuznetsk, a ritual of exorcism is performed. The Orthodox Church considers any physical illness to be a consequence of a spiritual illness, which also needs to be treated: attend services, pray, receive communion, fast, confess, and in extreme cases, apply for exile. The Holy Father notes that truly possessed people are actually extremely rare. Basically, people who come for cleansing fall into a trance, begin to speak in different voices in languages unknown to anyone, bark, meow, scream, and use obscene language.

What do they pray to John the Warrior for?
However, such activity could not go unnoticed. After all, John the warrior went against the direct order of the emperor. He was put under arrest. There, the former commander of a thousand was supposed to die of hunger. The saint prayed, preparing for death. But the Lord prepared a different fate for him - the cruel emperor himself died. Then the saint was released. He ended his days in Constantinople, surrounded by brothers in faith.
The burial place of John the warrior is unknown; over time, he was wiped off the face of the earth. But the relics were found miraculously. He appeared to a woman in a dream. The saint's body turned out to be untouched by decay. Today it is located in the Church of the Apostle John. Near the tomb of the saint they pray for a variety of needs:
- about the return of lost things;
- for the debtor to return the money;
- about finding lost people.
The people firmly believed that a prayer service to John the warrior would help find what was stolen. It even happened that during the prayer service the thieves themselves confessed to what they had done - they were so afraid of the saint’s righteous anger. Many miracles happened through prayers at the holy relics, and the poet’s fame as a defender of the oppressed only increased.

How to return a stolen item prayer
Magic Edge
Unfortunately, theft in our lives is becoming more and more common. Probably most people have at least once encountered such an unpleasant situation as theft. Usually, things that are expensive and valuable to us are taken away right from under our noses.
People who steal do it for different reasons. For example, some steal from the store, that is, they don’t have what you have, while others make a living from this, and others simply out of boredom.
Debt repayment conspiracy
Unfortunately, in real life it is usually easier to take on debt than to pay it off. As people say, you take other people’s money, but you have to give your own. Some people seem to be waiting for a conspiracy to be made to repay the debt, since they are in no hurry to repay the debt.
Often a person who has lent money comes to a point when he hopes to repay the debt. He begins to imagine that the debtor does not intend to repay his debts.
Conspiracy from thieves
A conspiracy against thieves is a necessary element in the arsenal of magical methods of protecting every person. With its help, you can protect your acquired property from unkind people and return what has already been stolen.
It is much easier to prevent theft than to later try to find the thief and return what he stole. There are strong conspiracies against thieves that will protect your belongings and your home from theft. As a rule, they are read at a time when you leave home for some business.
Force the thief to return stolen goods (punish)
“I will get up without blessing, I will go, without crossing myself, from door to gate, from gate into an open field, a wide expanse. In an open field, in a wide expanse, a young devil sits, waving his tail, dancing around a fire. On that fire there is a forged chest, in the chest there are 1000 torments. 1000 torment for thieves' hands. I’ll come closer to the devil, bow to him lower: “Hello, devil-father! What kind of torment do you have in your chest? “Hot damask knives, forged nails and heavy weights that stick into sinners, beat them, and mock them.”
If you are sure that the item or things have actually been stolen, a special ritual should be performed as soon as possible. All things retain the energy of their owner for some time, with the help of which you can force a thief to return what was stolen.
If the ritual is performed in a timely manner, the thief will try not only to get rid of the unlucky item, but will try to return it to its rightful owner.
Even omniscient scientists know the secret of prayer. According to the existing theory, any time-tested prayer works due to the presence in its holy words of a special neurolinguistic code that can influence the mind of the one who hears the prayer and says it.
A person puts himself in a certain mood, completely concentrating on the lost thing and the question of where it might be.
Prayer for lost or missing items
O great martyr of Christ John, champion of the Orthodox, chaser of enemies and intercessor of the offended! Hear us, in troubles and sorrows, praying to you, as if grace from God was given to you quickly to console the sad, to help the weak, to deliver the innocent from vain death, and to pray for all those who suffer evil. Be therefore a strong champion for us against all our visible and invisible enemies, for with your help and fight all those who show us evil will be put to shame.
Prayers for theft and missing things
Saint John the Warrior, sent to persecute and kill Christians, provided great help to the persecuted. He devoted his entire life to serving his neighbors. The martyr warrior exposed the thieves for theft. They pray to him to find stolen things, from theft, from offenders.
O glorious servant of Christ, John the Warlord, you are the brave one in the army, the driver of the enemy and the defender of the offended, the great intercessor and servant of Christ to all Orthodox Christians, remember us, sinners and unworthy slaves, in troubles, sorrows and sorrows, and in every evil misfortune, and protect us from every evil and offending person: for you have been given grace from God to pray for us sinners who suffer evil.
Working conspiracies for missing things
Life is filled with all sorts of small troubles: something will fall, something will get lost. You search and search, but you can’t find it. It also happens that you look at a loss, but you can’t see it, as if the Devil had covered you with his tail. But you need to find it!
If you have lost something extremely valuable to you, then go to church service in the morning. You will have to endure the entire prayer service - from beginning to end. Don't forget to think about the loss and the need to find it.
Personal petition
Oh, great Martyr John of Christ! Hear me running to you (name), grant in my sorrow immediate help and intercession (the content of the petition), so that with your help and struggle for me all those who show evil to me will be put to shame. Amen.
Mch. John the Warrior
He saved Christians during persecution
After Constantine, Julian sat on the throne. He is called the Apostate, because his short reign (361-363) was tainted by the persecution of Christians.
On the icons, John the Warrior appears in military armor and with weapons - he was a soldier. He had the privilege of serving in the imperial army during the days of persecution
. But the warrior John did not leave his post; on the contrary, he used his position as a detachment commander to help his fellow believers. Having received the order to persecute Christians, John the Warrior secretly warned them about the impending disaster and helped many to escape.
Useful materials
But his service to his neighbors could not last long: John was captured. In prison he suffered hunger and beatings, but remained alive. Offering prayers in prison, John was ready for martyrdom
, but when the guards came for him, they came with the intention of freeing the warrior.
During the time that John was in prison, the Apostate died in battle with the Persians. His successor was a Christian and ordered the release of everyone who was languishing in prison.
John no longer served in the army. He led a life full of helping others and lived to an old age.
“You, the pious servant and warrior of the All-merciful God and King, appeared to John the Wonderworker, having suffered courageously for the sake of faith, and having blessedly passed away, you saw the All-Creator of the Lord in the brightest heavens” (from the Troparion to the martyr John the Warrior).
After his death, his good deeds were not forgotten, but his burial place was lost. Then one Christian woman had a vision: John the Warrior himself showed where to look for his relics.
They pray to the saint from evil people for the return of debt and for the recovery of lost things.
The veneration of St. John the Warrior is great among the people, which is why believers ask for his help in many everyday problems. They pray to him:
- about health;
- about strengthening in faith;
- unjustly convicted;
- persecuted and suffering insults;
- victims of theft;
- military personnel;
- employees in law enforcement agencies;
- about the conversion of the lost and those who have apostatized from the faith.
Interesting fact
Not one, but two icons and a particle of the relics of John the Warrior are in the Church of the Prophet Elijah, in Obydensky Lane (Moscow).
The robbers returned the stolen goods and repented
John the Warrior helps in many needs, and often people turn to him with requests to repay a debt, to find lost things, or to somehow return stolen things. This is due to a miracle that occurred after John's death.
The very widow to whom we owe the discovery of the martyr’s grave almost suffered from theft: the villains broke into her house to take away the last property from the poor woman. But the crime did not take place - the attackers fled from the house in fear, frightened by a formidable warrior dressed in armor. To the widow's surprise, the next morning the thieves came to her and repented. And they pointed to the image of John as the one who appeared to them that night.

We celebrated the bicentennial of the Church of St. John the Warrior on Yakimanka (Moscow). From the moment it was founded by Peter I until the present day, this temple has never been closed for service.
About how a saint helps people
From chronicle sources we know about a miracle that was witnessed during the Tatar invasion of Rus'. In the devastated Serpukhov monastery, one Tatar saw the image of John the Warrior. It is not known why he aroused such rage, but the Tatar grabbed his saber. Having struck three times, he was horrified to see how first blood flowed from the board with the image, and then the icon itself was restored right before his eyes. After this, the foreign warrior believed in the Christian warrior, and then in Christ.
Since ancient times, the saint has not abandoned help to those who ask. There is a well-known story about a family that had the only valuable thing - a Persian carpet that was inherited. And then it was stolen. The owners prayed to John the Warrior - and soon the thief brought the stolen goods. Moreover, he asked: let the owners forgive him - maybe then some military man with a stern face will stop pursuing him.
John also helps those who have lost valuables, lost keys or documents.
One elderly woman was getting ready for a long trip, and the day before she unexpectedly lost all her documents and tickets along with her bag. The trip was canceled, all that was left was to hope for a miracle and pray to John the Warrior. And the miracle did not slow down: soon the hostess heard the doorbell. A stranger brought her a bag that had been absent-mindedly left at a bus stop.
***
John the Warrior always appears with a spear, cross and shield. But these are not instruments of suffering, as one might think, and not accessories of military craft, but symbols of the saint’s valor, his faith and the protection that the Savior gives to his soldiers.

Prophetic verses
God is with us, understand, pagans, and repent: For God is with us. Hear to the last of the earth: For God is with us. O mighty ones, repent: For God is with us. If again you are able, and again you will be victorious: For God is with us. And even if you hold counsel, the Lord will destroy: For God is with us. And the word, even if you say, will not remain in you: For God is with us. We will not be afraid of your fear, but we will be troubled: For God is with us. Let us sanctify the Lord our God, and He will be our fear: For God is with us. And if I trust in Him, it will be for my sanctification: For God is with us. And I will trust in Him and be saved by Him: For God is with us. Behold the children, even as God gave us: For God is with us. People walking in darkness saw a great light: For God is with us. Living in the land and shadow of death, light will shine on you; Like God is with us. For a Son was born unto us, and was given unto us: For God is with us. His principality was upon His frame: For God is with us. And His peace knows no bounds: For God is with us. And His name is called the Great Angel of Council: For God is with us. Wonderful Advisor: For God is with us. God is strong, Ruler, ruler of the world: For God is with us. Father of the next century: For God is with us. God is with us, understand, pagans, and repent: For God is with us. Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. God is with us, understand, pagans, and repent: For God is with us. God is with us, understand, pagans, and repent: And now, and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen. Like God is with us.
Who is Martyr John the Warrior?
The Slav John lived in the fourth century AD. At the beginning of his life, he was a warrior in the service of the Roman Caesar Flavius Claudius Julian, nicknamed the Apostate, during which John participated in the persecution of Christians. In modern parlance, he was a double agent. As a Roman soldier, John helped captured Christians escape, gave them information about impending raids, and helped the wounded. When the truth was revealed, the Emperor Apostate ordered the warrior to be thrown into prison, where he suffered great torment.
John was supposed to be executed, but soon the emperor was killed in one of the battles, and the prisoner was released. Until old age, he continued to preach the basics of Christianity. His memorial day according to the Orthodox calendar falls on July 30.

Life of a Saint
In the 4th century, the Roman Emperor Julian the Apostate reigned. He pursued a constant policy of persecution of Christians, destroying them and trying to turn them away from the faith. John the Warrior, who in fact was a Christian with deep faith and convictions, served in his army. Therefore, when he, along with everyone else, was sent to kill and persecute Christians, he provided the latter with all possible assistance. John warned about attacks and gave them the opportunity to hide. He freed his fellow believers from prison and hid them. When there was no such opportunity, he helped them with food and tried to soften their fate. But this generous warrior helped not only Christians, but also all those who were suffering, sick and in need of support.
By such behavior he made it clear to the pagans how kind, merciful Christians are and how they love all people. Thus, many people converted to Christianity, despite the fact that they were thereby subjected to persecution and torture.
But, of course, such actions of his did not go unnoticed, and they were reported to Julian the Apostate. The emperor immediately ordered John the Warrior to be thrown into prison. And his fate would have been sealed, but, by the will of God, Julian was killed in the war with the Persians, after which the Saint was released from prison.
John the Warrior devoted the rest of his life to serving people, living strictly according to God’s Commandments, in holiness. He died at a very advanced age, and at first the place of his burial was not known.
But one day, after some time, he appeared in a vision to a pious woman who was able to point to his grave. The incorrupt relics of the Saint were transferred to Constantinople. For loyalty and service to people, God gave the relics the power of grace, healing the sick and helping in everyday affairs. Since then, people have constantly come to the Church of the Apostle John the Theologian, venerate the relics and find help and support, each according to their faith.

Great Martyr Theodore Tiron
(St. Theodore, like John the Warrior, is prayed for to find what was stolen.)
The great martyr Theodore rejoiced at the great faith of correction, in a fiery fountain, as on the water of repose: for he was burnt with fire, as sweet bread was offered to the Trinity, Whom through the prayers, O Christ God, save our souls.
We will accept the Faith of Christ, like a shield, into your heart; you have trampled upon the opposing forces, O much-suffering one, and you have been crowned with the Heavenly crown forever, Theodore, as if you were invincible.

Lost - no problem?
A wonderful book about the Optina New Martyrs tells an interesting story. A Christian woman's car was stolen. The police honestly warned that the brand is one of the most stolen. And it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to find the car. Most likely, it is already being dismantled for parts in some garage. This was in the early 90s.
But the woman only grinned at the policeman’s words. What do you think she did? Did you run to tie the table legs and ask the brownie for help? Not at all. As mentioned above, the woman was a believer. She began to read the “Creed” and the 50th Psalm.
The car was found the next day. In some strange yard, but almost without damage.
What prayers should you read when you lose something? Psalm 50, Creed, pray to John the Warrior. In general, you can pray to any saint you are used to. This could be Matrona of Moscow, Ksenia of Petersburg, Spiridon of Trimifuntsky. In general, everything depends on the desires of the person praying.

There is a double opinion about Saint John the Warrior, because... there are 2 versions of his existence. According to one of them, he was an ardent opponent of Christianity and everything that was associated with this religion. John served in the imperial troops under Julian the Apostate and, together with other soldiers, persecuted people of the Christian faith. With a more detailed study of the chronicles, one can see that the saint sought to help those who found themselves under the yoke of power and suffered persecution. John warned people about upcoming raids and independently organized the escape of Christians so that they could avoid imprisonment.
During his service with Julian the Apostate, the Warrior was able to free hundreds of prisoners. In addition, he secretly visited hospitals and provided all kinds of assistance to people in need. Unfortunately, the supreme ruler soon found out about John’s deeds and gave the order to imprison him. The benefactor was able to free himself from captivity only after Julian died during the battles in the Persian War. He devoted the rest of his life to helping Christians and died at a ripe old age.
