Father Vlasiy, Borovsky Monastery: biography, reception and interesting facts

In Orthodoxy there are many examples of miraculous phenomena and healings of people from serious illnesses. Divine power comes to us through holy images, water sources, the relics of the great martyrs, the hands and prayers of living elders-clergy. The latter include Father Blasius from the Borovsky Monastery. To this day, he shows miracles to people who turn to him for advice and consolation.

In this article we will get acquainted with the biography of the elder and interesting facts that pilgrims willingly share. We will also find out how to get to the Borovsky Monastery and how to get to the reception.

Biography

Vlasiy (Peregontsev) (real name unknown) was born in the Smolensk region on February 8, 1934. His birth in itself is considered a miracle, since his mother was already over 50 years old at that time. His family, despite the atheistic times, were believers. My grandmother bore the rank of schema-nun. It was from her that the grandson adopted the love of God.

After graduating from school, young Vlasiy entered the medical institute in Smolensk. At the same time, he was friends with the girl, but hid from her that he visited the Assumption Cathedral in the evenings. One day, this girl, in a fit of jealousy, thinking that he was secretly going on dates with another, tracked him down and reported everything to the rector’s office. The real persecution began. The young student was forced to leave the institute without even taking his documents.

Search and new name

Soon he completely changed his place of residence, leaving for the Tambov region, the city of Kozlov, where he met his spiritual mentor Hilarion (Rybar). They went together to the monastery of Flora and Lavra (Transcarpathia). This was, in a sense, a necessary measure, because a young student who suddenly disappeared was put on the all-Union wanted list.

After five years in the monastery, Peregontsev became a monk. Then he changed his name to Blasius (in honor of the holy martyr Blasius of Sebastia). Then he served as a cell attendant for 11 years with his confessor Hilarion.

Return to Smolensk

During the reign of Khrushchev, there were persecutions against the Orthodox Church. The Flora and Lavra Monastery was closed. Vlasiy had no choice but to return to Smolensk. There, as a regent and psalm-reader, he was received into the Assumption Cathedral, which was familiar to him. Soon the young monk became close to Bishop Gideon (Dokunin), who ordained Blasius to the rank of hieromonk and hierodeacon.

In 1972, his religious path led him to Novosibirsk, where he went after the same Gideon, who had already received the appointment of manager of the Novosibirsk diocese.

Borovsky Monastery

However, the wanderings of Hieromonk Vlasiy did not end there. Before the Borovsky Monastery, he served in the Church of the Savior John (Tobolsk). However, there he had disagreements with the local bishop. Therefore, the hieromonk had to move to Tyumen. But even there the temple did not become his home. And soon Blasius was sent to the Belgorod region, where Archimandrite Seraphim (Tyapochkin) tonsured him into the schema (this is a renunciation of all worldly joys). His name remained the same, only now he was ordained in honor of Blaise of Caesarea.

A little later, in 1979, the young schema-monk was appointed priest in the Church of Dmitry of Thessaloniki, in the village of Ryabushki (Kaluga region). And only after a short service here, Metropolitan of Kaluga and Borovsk Clement (Kapalin) blessed and appointed Blasius as confessor of the Pafnutyevo-Borovsky Monastery.

What and how does Father Vlasiy help people?

There are many testimonies of miracles that took place under the roof of the Borovsky Monastery.

The Komsomolskaya Pravda journalist wrote in her article about the miraculous deliverance of a man from smoking after a few minutes of communication with the elder, about the resolution of a friend’s dilemma regarding her personal life, about the evidence of the healing of a half-blind girl in front of amazed parishioners.

He has a medicine for everyone, and it doesn’t matter, for the soul or for the body - elders like him know something that the Lord bestows on a few pious believers, and they share with the world. A confessor has an incredible effect on people: sometimes looking into his kind, knowing eyes, a person is transformed by himself, straightens his shoulders and returns confidence to his gaze.

Among the visitors to the modest monastery of Vlasius in the monastery are people walking in faith, and non-believers, and Russians, and foreigners, and famous people, and simple humble workers from the people. Everyone is treated equally, because everyone is equal before God.

Visitors talk about various miracles: “The main thing,” they say, “is to listen to what Father Vlasiy advises, and then everything will be fine.”

If you feel an urgent need for a spiritual mentor, life problems or physical ailments weigh you down, know that the time has come! Come to Father Vlasius for advice and help at the Pafnutiev Borovsky Monastery! Children can also go - this is not prohibited.

A little history

The new monastery of the schema-archimandrite at that time was experiencing a stage of revival after historical unrest and restructuring. The St. Borovsky Monastery was founded in 1444 by the Monk Paphnutius. The outskirts of the city of Borovsk (Kaluga region) were chosen for construction. The monastery is located in a picturesque place: on a hill surrounded by forests, where the Isterma River flows into the Protva nearby.

Initially, there was a wooden church in the Borovsky Monastery. In its place in 1467, the white stone Nativity Cathedral was built. It was painted by the then famous master Dionysius. The frescoes contained fragments of the life of the Monk Paphnutius. However, a little more than a century later, the cathedral was dismantled by order of Tsar Fyodor the Blessed, and a five-domed temple was erected in its place. For its construction, beams with paintings from the 15th century were used. Thanks to this, the frescoes of Dionysius and another famous icon painter Mitrofan have survived to this day.

In the 16th century, the Pafnutievo-Borovsky Monastery was surrounded by a stone fence and turned into a border fortress. At this time, another church in the name of the Nativity of Christ, a refectory, watchtowers and entrance towers, and a belfry (later converted into a bell tower) were erected on the territory.

As a fortress, the Borovsky Monastery resisted the Poles in 1610, but was burned. Five thousand people were killed here in one night. Among them were monks. The bodies were buried on the territory in two mass graves. After this, the monastery was restored more than once, destroyed and restored again. The reason for this was the Time of Troubles, the war with Napoleon.

In the second half of the 17th century, archpriest Avvakum, a fighter for the old faith, sat here in prison, in the basement of one of the churches of the Borovsk monastery. Subsequently, he and his wife Anastasia were exiled to Siberia. By the way, today pilgrims are offered as an excursion to look into these very basements and touch the history of the Orthodox Church.

There was a time when the religious complex lost its status as a monastery and was used as a penal colony, an agricultural college and a local history museum. And only in the spring of 1991 the Borovsky Monastery was transferred to the Orthodox Church. And it was at this time that Father Blasius was appointed confessor here. Today, in addition to the monks, workers live here. Most often these are men who have been released from prison and do not have their own housing.

Where is it located, address and how to get there from Moscow

It is not surprising that such a place attracts a large number of believers. However, the monastery is not only a religious place, an ancient architectural ensemble, historical buildings and paintings that have survived to this day attract many tourists, and its close location to Moscow (only about 100 km) makes it accessible to both pilgrims and simply connoisseurs of antiquity.

The founder of the monastery is the Monk Paphnutius, a student of Nikita of Serpukhov, whose teacher was Saint Sergius of Radonezh. Rev. grew up Paphnutius, in a God-fearing family, was raised in love and respect for Christian values and as a youth entered the Church of the Intercession of the Mother of God, where he spent over 20 years and turned from a novice into an experienced mentor, accepted the rank of hegumen and began managing the monastery.

Here he accepted the Great Schema, expecting his departure to another world, but was miraculously healed. In 1440, he left the monastery with his disciple, prayed a lot to find a new place for ministry, visited other holy monasteries, until he found territory not far from his former home.

The active participation of the brothers contributed to the beginning of the construction of the temple, and already in 1444 a monastery was founded there, where the monk spent the next 30 years of his life in prayer and instruction of disciples, died and was buried here. In 1547 he was canonized.

Thanks to the personality of the monk, the monastery was often visited by people of high class, for example, Tsars Ivan IV and Mikhail Romanov, the Volkonsky princes, who showed honor and respect to both the temple and the abbot himself, which contributed to the growth of the authority of the monastery, its further development and prosperity.

Famous personalities did not always end up in the monastery of their own free will; for example, the schismatic archpriest Avvakum was twice kept under arrest here, and the noblewoman Morozova was also in the monastery prison.

I saw the monastery and battles; in the Time of Troubles, by order of False Dmitry II and the forces of Jan Sapieha, the monastery was besieged and further plundered, thousands of residents who took refuge behind the holy walls died, and the invasion of Napoleon in 1812 not only led to devastation, but also to partial destruction.

However, the Soviet era turned out to be one of the most disastrous for the monastery, during which the monks managed to be expelled from the holy place (1919), declared a monument, using it for other purposes, and, finally, in 1991, re-consecrated and returned it to the Orthodox Church. churches. Inappropriate use brought the architectural complex almost to the state of ruins; significant restoration work was required.

At the moment, the Borovsky Monastery can boast of ancient buildings from the 16th to 18th centuries, wonderful frescoes and fragments of painting from the 15th century.

Among the architectural objects, the most attractive are the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, the Refectory, the Temple of Elijah the Prophet, the Funeral Building, and the Western fraternal cells.

A believer will want to get acquainted with the shrines stored here - a particle of the relics of St. Paphnutius, the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God, as well as the relics of saints (Prince Vladimir and the Blessed Matrona of Moscow, St. Seraphim of Sarov, the Elders of Optina and others).

Regardless of the purpose of travel, religious or tourist, the visitor will certainly be interested in the Museum of Russian Icons, which presents the history of the monastery itself and icon-painting traditions in general.

Interesting Facts

  • Father Vlasiy visited the Borovsky Monastery even before its transfer to the Orthodox Church. On moonlit nights, groans were heard here, and local residents claimed to have seen the ghost of a monk. All this was associated with the military historical past of the monastery, and the spirit supposedly belonged to Saint Paphnutius, who guarded the monastery. Then Father Vlasiy began to read the Psalter, and all the strangeness stopped.
  • A little later, on the occasion of the celebration of the day of Paphnutius Borovsky (May 14), the dome in the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin unexpectedly collapsed. Everyone discovered the frescoes created by the icon painter Dionysius back in the 15th century. Thus began the restoration of the cathedral. And Father Vlasiy himself headed the work of the monastery.
  • It is also known that it was no coincidence that he received the schema from Archimandrite Seraphim (Tyapochkin). Father Vlasiy turned to the same confessor who took the icon from the “stone” Zoya in Kuibyshev. There is a known case when young people gathered in someone’s house back in Soviet times. They started dancing in pairs, but the girl Zoya did not get a partner. Then she took the icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and began to dance with it. So she froze. Neither doctors nor relatives could move her. Only Father Seraphim managed to free the girl from her stupor. So Hieromonk Blasius turned to him to be tonsured into the schema.
  • Literally from the first days of his appearance in Borovsk, local residents began to say that the new abbot saw right through people. He had only to look at the person, and he already knew what question and problem they were addressing him with. The pilgrims recall that they did not have time to utter a word, but they were already receiving advice.
  • In the first years of his stay at the monastery, Father Vlasiy went outside its boundaries to walk in the forest and go fishing. One day he was beaten by hooligans. After this, the abbot began to limp.
  • According to the same pilgrims, famous people come to the elder, whose names are not disclosed. However, it is known for sure that at one time the famous ballet dancer Andris Liepa came to visit Father Blasius at the Borovsky Monastery. He even baptized his daughter. The writer A. Solzhenitsyn and his wife once came here. True, this trip took place accompanied by a police escort. Father Blasius was not in the monastery at that time; he was on Mount Athos. And the writer was simply collecting material about Russia.
  • Father Vlasiy himself modestly speaks of his gift. The parishioners nicknamed him almost a psychic, since he sees both the past and the future of people. And the abbot says that at one time he studied iridology well (determination of diseases by the iris of the eye). In his opinion, it is first necessary to treat the human soul. It is through her that all illnesses appear.

Schema-Archimandrite Blasius

Schema-Archimandrite Vlasiy (Peregontsev)

The future confessor of the Pafnutiev Borovsky Monastery, Schema-Archimandrite Vlasiy (Peregontsev), was born when his mother was 56 years old. She gave birth to seven, but all of them died before reaching the age of one year. The eighth was a girl who lived. And we thought that everything would work out, but it didn’t. When the baby was two years old, her grandmothers took her outside to play. A horse was grazing there. The girl approached her. The horse kicked her on the head...

He was born underground, where his mother went to get potatoes. She thought about picking up some potatoes, and then a son was born. And for many years afterwards his life went underground: for most of his long monastic life he was persecuted and persecuted for his faith.

At home he was an unloved child. His father died, his mother remarried, and his stepson’s stepfather disliked him fiercely and called him “a little boy” and a “nun.” After all, until he was 10 years old—until the fourth grade of school—he was raised by his grandmother, a nun.

And after the seventh grade, he left home and began to live on his own. He became a student at the Smolensk Medical Institute, where he studied at the Faculty of Pediatrics and Childhood Diseases. There, at the institute, he met love. When the girl found out that he went to church, she sincerely reported him to the rector’s office, and a big scandal ensued. He was demonstrably tried in front of the entire course. How can a Soviet student exchange a white doctor's coat for a black cassock?

Tell me: how? White robe on a black cassock? The management couldn’t wrap their heads around this, and the student, who had previously studied well, began having problems passing the exams. The teachers were instructed to give him credit if he renounced his beliefs. The student was not going to give up his beliefs. The girl, realizing that, wanting to save her betrothed from church obscurantism, she had betrayed him, stopped going to classes. And he suffered a severe nervous breakdown.

Schema-Archimandrite Vlasiy (Peregontsev)

He came to his senses when he knocked on the gate of the house of schema-monk Hilarion (Rybar), who then lived in Michurinsk, many kilometers from Smolensk. My legs are knocked down, my clothes are frayed, my eyes are tormented. Father Hilarion looked the young man up and down and led him into the house. He was washed, changed, fed and put to bed. He slept soundly for two days. I opened my eyes: the furnishings were unfamiliar, a blanket made of scraps, the ceiling whitewashed, like in Ukrainian mud huts. Icons, in front of the images of the lamp. Then the father comes in. The hair is picked up. He sits on a stool next to him and says:

- Well, have you suffered?

He only sniffled in response, all the words forming a lump in his throat. He lies there, silent, tears flowing from his eyes. Father put his hand on his head and said:

Father Hilarion put his hand on his head and said: “Don’t say anything, I know everything. You will go with me?" - “I’ll go”

– Don’t say anything, I know everything. You will go with me?

- I'll go.

Although he didn’t even know where his name was. It turned out that the priest was a confessor at the Flora and Lavra Monastery in Transcarpathia. He took the future schema-monk there.

In the Soviet Union, traveling to monasteries was strict. The young man was put on the all-Union wanted list as if he were a dangerous criminal. And he finally got to where his heart wanted. To the monastery. He was secretly tonsured a monk with the name Peter. The confessor strictly forbade him to report his whereabouts, and he began to live unknown to anyone, in an illegal position, far from people. After some time, he wrote to his mother so that she would not look for him, since he had chosen for himself the path to serve God.

Archimandrite Seraphim (Tyapochkin)

And he serves Him throughout his long, difficult life.

He was tonsured into the Great Schema by Archimandrite Seraphim (Tyapochkin) in 1980. This happened secretly: the authorities were persecuted for it. While tonsuring, Father Seraphim said that the schema would be his fortress, his spiritual armor from enemies. He also predicted to him that he would be a confessor in a monastery and there would be brethren around him. At that time, the monastery in question lay in ruins, the police were looking for the future confessor, and it was hard to believe in all this. But for many years now Schema-Archimandrite Vlasiy has been the confessor of the Pafnutyev Borovsky Monastery.

According to all forecasts, he should have died. And he went to Athos, where he prayed for six years in the Vatopedi monastery

He was persecuted, he was persecuted, he was killed. Once, when he was already serving in the Kaluga diocese, dashing people climbed into the temple and pierced his head with a tire iron. These were temple robbers, they did not want to leave him as a living witness and they would certainly beat him. But the helmet on his head softened the blow, and the mount did not affect the brain - only a hundredth of a millimeter remained before it. He underwent a complex operation, a plate was sewn into his head, he spent a long time in the hospital and survived. And then he was diagnosed with cancer. He underwent six complex operations, part of his intestines were removed, and his blood was changed every year. According to all forecasts, he should have died. And he went to Mount Athos, where he prayed for six years in seclusion in the Vatopedi Monastery, where there is a miraculous icon of the Most Holy Theotokos “All-Tsarina” (“Pantanassa”), which is prayed to for oncology. There is a story that when Athanasius the Great wanted to leave Athos, the Mother of God showed a miracle - she hit the rock, and a holy spring gushed out from this place. He still hits. Father Vlasiy bathed in this water and drank it. Six years later, during a service in the temple, he suddenly felt that everything around him seemed to sparkle. Then the doctors said that the metastases had stopped spreading. He returned to Russia, to his native Pafnutev Borovsky Monastery, where he has been welcoming people for decades.

An elderly archpriest, a descendant of the great Russian commander Mikhail Illarionovich Kutuzov, Father Vladimir Kutuzov, told me the following story about Father Vlasiy: during the years of Soviet power, when he served as a young deacon with the priest in one of the parishes, some officials came to their church and they began to demand a bribe for a young man who, according to the concepts of the Soviet system, was shirking work in church, not wanting to build a bright future. The officials threatened big problems, and, to be safe, they paid off. After some time they came again for money. So what? Priests have no rights; they won’t run to the police to complain. Seeing that this would never end, Father Blasius blessed the young deacon to get a job in a cowshed in his native village, and on weekends to come to church and serve. So he did. But one day a local gypsy “played a joke”: he crept up to the paddock where the collective farm herd stood with a siren and scared the cows so much that they broke through the fence and ran away into the forest. No matter how Father Vladimir ran, no matter how he called, he could not find a single one. Realizing what he was in danger of losing his entire herd, he went to Father Blasius in tears and told him everything. He assured him that everything would be fine and sent him back to the barn. Evening. The dejected deacon wanders towards the broken corral and suddenly sees a herd of cows coming from the forest. One, two... the whole herd is intact. All 250 cows have returned. The last ones approached the corral, and then he noticed that ... several huge wolves were following the cows, like shepherds. The wolves calmly reached the corral, waited until the last cows entered it, and then, as if nothing had happened, they turned around and headed into the forest. The deacon almost felt ill from the surprise.

At 81, Father Vlasiy simply glows with happiness and looks very much like the sun. Next to him it is warm, light and joyful at heart. Joy accompanies him everywhere.

Well, don’t you dare be discouraged! What are you? Now we will serve God - and you are sad!

One day I went into the altar, and there was one priest-abbot standing sad, hanging his head. Father Vlasiy enters. As soon as he saw the sad priest, he went up to him, grabbed him in his arms, picked him up, shook him thoroughly and barked: “Don’t you dare lose heart! What are you? Now we will serve God - and you are sad!” He kissed her three times and pressed her tightly to her heart. You should have seen the eyes of this abbot, who later served with such inspiration!

Even just looking at Father Vlasiy, people are transformed. The coldest and most indifferent heart comes to life next to him. You just look at him and it’s already good. You hear his prayer and you understand: the Lord lives and nothing is lost. He himself is the living embodiment of Easter joy and light, from which flowers bloom in the desert and the heavens smile. The Lord is with us!

Schema-Archimandrite Vlasiy (Peregontsev)

When he serves, his joyful voice thunders, drowning out everything around. “Let us pray to the Lord with tender hearts!” And the walls of the cathedral shake. “Most Holy Mother of God, save us!”

He loves the monastery touchingly and selflessly. One must see with what joy, with what reverence he applies himself to the monastery shrines! “Reverend Father Paphnutius, pray to God for us!” How can he quietly and lukewarmly serve God, Who is Love, Light and Joy? This old monk with big kind eyes knows how much God loves us. And everyone around feels it.

He looks at people like Adam and Eve in paradise. Through the dirt, soot, warped corners and leprosy, he sees the unique image of God and, with authority, confidence and joy, immediately begins to clear it. Sometimes this happens in an instant. He just started talking to a complete stranger - and suddenly something happens to him, the person changes right before his eyes, straightens his shoulders, begins to smile. Just a minute ago he was lost, sad and lonely, but now he is joyful and happy.

People come to Father Vlasiy from London and Tibet, from Maloyaroslavets and Sakhalin. Orthodox and non-Orthodox. Believers and non-believers. Simple and not very simple. Whom you will meet! In front of his cell you can see Athonite archimandrites, Russian ministers, and famous politicians and businessmen. And many others. Once I accompanied him to the first assistant to the OSCE Chairman, who flew to Moscow specifically to talk with the Russian confessor. And he accepted him, as he accepts everyone who comes to him. On reception days, Father Vlasiy’s cell is open from 4 am to 9 pm every day. And when he serves, he receives people for confession from the opening of the monastery - at 5 in the morning.

Schema-Archimandrite Vlasy (Peregontsev) at confession

He makes a spiritual diagnosis instantly, sometimes in two phrases.

- Dionysius, why are you standing on the threshold? Come into the cell!

- Father, all my shoes are covered in mud!

- But you still come in.

And so, of course, you take off your shoes: you’re not a fool to dirty the floor in your beloved priest’s cell. And a minute later he presses you to his chest, ruffles your hair and says: “Well, why are you so naughty?”

Over the almost 20 years that we have known each other, he has given me a lot of spiritual advice and guidance. One thing I will remember all my life. One day I came to him in difficult life circumstances. He arrived gloomy and upset. Things were not just bad, but worse than ever. Father consoled me as best he could, we talked for a long time, and at the end he hugged me tightly and quietly said in my ear in a firm voice:

In a firm voice, he quietly said in his ear: “If you are with Christ, there will be heaven in hell.”

– If you are with Christ, there will be heaven in hell.

And he gave me a bunch of Easter candles from Jerusalem.

Schema-Archimandrite Vlasiy (Peregontsev)

His words struck me to the very heart, and I seemed to wake up. Because of the problems and circumstances, I completely forgot about the main thing that fills the life of a Christian with meaning and joy - to be with God. Not metaphysically and speculatively, but just like that - face to face. When you are with God, everything changes. Where there is Light, there is no darkness. Where there is Love, there is no place for despondency and loneliness. “Son, give Me your heart” - that’s the main thing.

When you are with Christ, you stop being afraid of pain, you become fearless, you can run in the snow and not fall through. With God, the dead desert is transformed into the Garden of Eden and nothing is impossible for you...

Father Vlasiy leaves his cell in the evening. The people rush to be blessed. Some impressive lady in diamonds, squeezing from behind, dramatically wrings her hands and asks in a tragic voice:

- How to live, father?

He turns around and throws out as he goes:

- With one!

The lady blushes, the priest quickly leaves. People still laugh for a long time.

Present tense

Today Father Vlasiy is 84 years old, and he still helps people who turn to him. Fame about the wonderful old man reached almost all corners of Russia and even went beyond its borders. This was facilitated not only by word of mouth, but also by numerous articles in the media.

How to get to Father Blasius at the Borovsky Monastery is one of the most pressing questions for those suffering. After all, the monastery is for men; according to the rules, only confessors, monks and male workers are allowed to live on the territory. And the queue to see Father Vlasiy is always quite long, about 100-200 people every day. Due to such a large influx of people, the monastery hotel is overcrowded, so sometimes pilgrims are allowed to spend the night in the Church of Elijah the Prophet, or local residents invite them to their place.

Borovskaya monastery

Borovsky Monastery is a monastery where Father Vlasiy has served for decades. Visitors in 2021 can read reviews of people who received help from the elder. The words of Archimandrite Seraphim came true - Father Blasius is the confessor of this monastery.

Borovsky Monastery, a monastery where Father Vlasiy has served for decades

By the way, Father Vlasiy has had a terrible diagnosis of oncology for many years, but this does not stop him from encouraging people, helping them with words, teaching them to enjoy life and appreciate it. At the initiative of believers, the group “Father Vlasy” was created in contact; here is the link to this information page https://vk.com/o.vlasy.

In it you can ask questions, find out useful information, contain up-to-date information about the reception of Father Blasius, and you can share or read your impressions of meeting the priest or visiting the monastery.

The chronicle of the monastery dates back to the time of the Mongol-Tatar invasion

After all, its history is very rich and glorious. The chronicle of the monastery dates back to the time of the Mongol-Tatar invasion. To feel the desire not just to visit the Borovsky Monastery, but to make a pilgrimage trip, you need to watch a video about this spiritual center.

Unfortunately, today there is a clear tendency to treat spiritual monasteries, elders, and the Church of Christ as a whole as a table of orders, which is unacceptable for sincerely believing people.

There is no point in condemning anyone, but it is time to accumulate an understanding of the difference between spiritual needs for the sake of saving the soul and the fulfillment of desires, magic and faith in the truth. Father Vlasiy said in one of his interviews that spirituality is not a set of unquestioningly followed rules.

This is difficult to explain in words, but such a vital feeling of love for the Lord, for everything that he has created for us. This is taught by the instructions, words of sermons, and conversations of Father Blasius.

Reception

First of all, you need to remember that an appointment with a clergyman is not an ordinary trip to the doctor. Here you can’t just come with a problem and immediately get a solution. There is a certain path that a parishioner must overcome.

Father Vlasiy does not charge a fee for the reception. However, the pilgrims still try to thank him. Some leave food, and some leave money as donations to the temple. All these gifts then go to the table of the monks, pilgrims-workers and for other needs of the monastery. According to parishioners, it may take more than a week to achieve an official audience with Father Blasius.

In the Borovsky monastery, in addition to the elder, there is a holy spring of the Monk Paphnutius. They say that bathing in it (at least three times) improves health and heals ailments of the musculoskeletal system.

Also, before the reception, you should confess and venerate the icon of St. Paphnutius. To do this, you should not eat fast food for at least one day. Confession and communion are conducted by the abbot himself in the traditional form (after the service). To make it easier to collect your thoughts, you can write your sins on a piece of paper.

At 81 years old, Father Vlasiy simply glows with happiness and looks very much like the sun

In fact, this person is always happy and joyful, with him it is always warm, calm and joyful in the soul.

There was one case that was described by a sexton at the church: “Once I went into the altar, and there was one priest-abbot standing sad, hanging his head.

You should have seen the eyes of this abbot, who later served so inspiredly!”

They say that even just looking at Father Blasius, people are immediately transformed. The coldest heart next to him immediately comes to life

How to get there

Only after this, in order of priority, can you make an appointment with Father Vlasiy. How to get to the Borovsky Monastery is another question. The city where the monastery is located is 84 km from Moscow. Therefore, the most famous route is from the capital. You can get there from Kievsky railway station by train or bus. I was at the reception with Father Blasius and my review is as follows))) I stood in line for 3 days (while I was standing in line I went to church services and plunged into the font every morning) and got to the reception. Our conversation lasted no more than 15 minutes, and I received answers to my questions. I don’t regret spending 3 days of my life!

Vladimir:

I found myself in an extremely difficult life situation... I didn’t want to live. Following the advice and positive feedback from loved ones, he turned to Father Vlasiy. The queue is huge and everyone has their own suffering and problems. I endured everything, I ended up with him... And I never regretted it! I live, I enjoy life... Thanks to my father, I know that there are no hopeless situations in this world!

My wife and I arrived at 10 o'clock. There were about 50 people ahead of us. Adults with children and cancer patients are accepted without a queue. We got to him at 14:00. I will not do what he said and did. But in addition to conversations, there were also manipulations. I received good advice for several questions. The conversation lasted about 5-7 minutes in a friendly manner, even with a little humor. We were very pleased with the visit, if you don’t go to church and are expecting an instant miracle, then I don’t think you should expect it. You need to listen to every word and absorb what he tells you. I don't really understand people who write negative reviews. If you don’t believe it in the first place, then why waste your time. He feels from the threshold and before I had time to say anything, he began to speak himself. As many people write, no one asks you for any money there. He treated me to chocolate, gave me a prayer and asked me to read it out loud, and to always do this. Personally, we came out of there as different people... and very impressed!!!

We can observe both positive and negative reviews.

We also visited the priest, about half a year ago. Unfortunately, no one let us through and we stood for 3 hours, although later they took pity on me and the parishioners themselves let us through. Personally, he didn’t tell us anything new, he just said to study horses and dolphins, but, in my opinion, this is already known. When I asked: how do you think we’ll go, he answered: “depending on how you work with the child, but We’ll probably wake up on crutches.” That's how we went to the monastery.

But as they say, as many people as there are, so many opinions. Mostly all the reviews are good, with good wishes to the old man.

The Lord rewarded the elder for his prayers

Nowadays there are very few such people who can have the opportunity to help people. Father Vlasiy went through a very difficult life, and the Lord rewarded him for his prayers and labors. So let us pray for the elder, so that God will give him health and strength, physical and spiritual!

PS

Eldership in Russia appeared even before the revolution. In godless times, secret monasteries were created, where clergy received believers, or people who were desperate and had lost their bearings in life. This holy mission continues to this day. But today in Russia the Orthodox Church already has great importance and influence.

Elder Blasius in the Borovsky Monastery is a vivid example of such selfless love and service to God. For many years the flow of pilgrims to it has not decreased. And everyone receives comfort and help. Miracles happen in the lives of ordinary people, you just need to believe in them.
