Unprecedented shocks awaited Russia - a world war, then revolutions, a civil war. Matrona never stopped helping people. But both of her older brothers joined the party and became communists. And in 1925, Matrona left her parental home forever.
She chose Moscow, and until her death in 1952 she lived in the homes of distant relatives, acquaintances, fellow villagers and simply deeply religious people.
