Brief life of the martyr and the history of the appearance of the akathist
Tryphon was born around 232 into a Christian family living in Phrygia, in Asia Minor. From childhood, the young man showed the strength of faith and spirit. Therefore, he performed miracles: he healed, saved from hunger, and drove out evil spirits.
Among the saint's deeds was saving his hometown of Kampsad from an invasion of insects that were destroying the fields. The youth’s prayer protected the crops of the local residents. The fame of his spiritual power quickly spread across the earth. And soon the ruler of the state himself turned to the young Christian.
The daughter of Emperor Gordian was tormented by a demon that possessed her. The demon himself told the sovereign that only the youth Tryphon was able to save the girl. The emperor ordered to find the young man and bring him to the capital. But before he could reach Rome, the demon left the emperor’s daughter. Gordian met a Christian and asked to show the devil. Tryphon ordered the devil to appear before people. Satan incarnated in the form of a black dog with eyes burning with fire.
Emperor Gordian was a pagan, but did not persecute Christians. However, when Decius Trajan came to power, great persecution began. Believers were tried, tortured, and forced to accept the Roman religion. Tryphon fervently preached Christianity. Therefore, he was captured and brought to trial in the city of Nicaea, where he declared his refusal to become a pagan.
The saint was subjected to cruel torture: they were hung from a tree, beaten, nails were driven into his feet, they were dragged along the ground, tied to a horse. Despite the cruelty of his executioners, the martyr passed all the tests. Ultimately, he was sentenced to death. Tryphon continued to pray fervently and died before the executioner touched him with the sword.
The relics of the saint were carefully preserved by Christians. The body was initially located in Campasada. Later, the remains of the martyr were transferred to the capital, Constantinople. Even later - to Rome. Nowadays, some of the relics are kept in Montenegro, and some in Russia.
There is a legend about the help of the saint to the falconer Patrikeev. During a hunt in the vicinity of Moscow, Ivan the Terrible's favorite gyrfalcon was lost. The Emperor sent his falconer Trifon Patrikeev to find the bird. He searched everywhere for three days, but was unable to fulfill the king’s decree.
Patrikeev turned with prayer to the martyr Tryphon. After praying, the falconer fell asleep, exhausted from his search. And in a dream I saw a saint with a gyrfalcon in his hands. When Patrikeev woke up, the lost bird was sitting next to him. In gratitude for the help provided by the patron, the falconer built the Church of St. Tryphon on this site.
Text of the prayer chant
Praise to the Saint (akathist) is written in the form of a narrative sermon (kontakion) and chants (ikos).

You cured the suffering of the Tsareva’s daughter and assuaged her ailments. Then the powerful healers of this world, unable to do anything, agreed in their inability. And only Tryphon could drive away the devil with the command of God. And they found him in Kompsad. And they asked him to go to Rome to drive out the devil and heal the girl. Saint Tryphon, who came to Rome, asks for help, Emperor Gordian begs you, appear to him and his people. And having fasted himself and prayed to the Lord for six days, on the seventh he came to the king and his people and called: “In the name of my Lord Jesus Christ, appear here and show your demonic image, prove your powerlessness...”.
And so it was. And everyone saw the ugly demon and were surprised at the faith of the saint, crying out: We rejoice, Tryphon, whom demons cannot disobey, that at your command even unclean souls appear.
Tryphon, who by the power of God commanded the devil to confess as a Christian, having the holy Orthodox and Apostolic faith.
Tryphon, it was said that demons tormented only those who follow sinful lusts and do things pleasing to the devil.
Tryphon, you taught us to avoid wicked paganism, you taught us to avoid all sin and indulge in virtue.

Many who saw how the young lad commanded the evil spirit were afraid of him. We saw what power the faith of Christ has against the demon. Many turned to God, putting aside their errors and being baptized from a pure heart, and sang a song of gratitude to God - Hallelujah!

The king thanked him and gave gifts and gold into the hands of the healer. Having Christ God in his soul , he did not take advantage of the benefits due and went to his fatherland Kompsad.
All the poor and orphans who are in need squander earthly, perishable riches, but they will gather imperishable, eternal riches in Heaven. We, taught by you, also do and praise you:

Hearing your words that the Orthodox faith is true fire, Aquilinus became angry and ordered Saint Tryphon to be hanged and beaten. And you heard the voice of the Lord, calling you to a suffering feat, you cried out to God - Hallelujah!

Just as a candle lights up with fire, so your soul, Saint Tryphon, lights up with love for God, and upon hearing the command of the hegemon to deliver your body into the hands of the tormentors.

The wicked judges, who did not glorify God, saw the stone wall, unshakable . He gave you his strength. You were not persuaded either by flattery or by the fear of death - you did not make a sacrifice to the demons. You, holy martyr, confessed the faith of Christ, denounced the persecutors and showed the wisdom of those who believed in Christ. The hegemon, having taken you down from the pillar, tied you to his horse so that he would carry your body along with him. We glorify your suffering:
We rejoice, your wounded body was carried away by the horse, you endured the winter cold.
He taught us to turn our minds in earthly sorrows to God, instructing us to warm ourselves in the cold world with love for Him.
By his deed he showed us how it is proper to endure the suffering that quickly passes on earth, filled with love and mercy for all people.
For the sake of his love, he prayed to God for his enemy, who was imprisoned and suffered illness in fierce languor.
He clearly demonstrates that earthly suffering is insignificant, that for the sake of God people endure sorrows and wounds, who did not bow his head before beheading, who gave his holy soul into the hands of God.
We rejoice in him who prayed before his execution for everyone and whoever remembers him, that he may be heard by the Lord and every request he may have will be fulfilled, after his death he commands to bury himself in his fatherland, thereby teaching us to love our fatherland!

Not only on earth was the holy martyr an intercessor and helper to everyone who required help, but even after his death he did not cease to deliver from troubles those who came to him with faith and love, just as he delivered from the royal wrath of one boyar who had lost a falcon when Tryphon came to him on horseback and gave him the royal falcon in his hands. The falconer, at the place to which Tryphon appeared, thanked him and erected a temple in your name, martyr Tryphon. The martyr saved his hometown from the threat of famine. Therefore, he should pray in poverty and destitution. The saint will help righteous Christians find a way out of need. Appealing to the martyr Tryphon is also useful for good luck in work. The heavenly patron will help in resolving difficulties in business and eliminating obstacles on the path to good.

Akathist to the martyr Tryphon - prayer for help in finding things and work
Martyr Tryphon is a saint of ancient times, but throughout the centuries and today he helps everyone who prays to him. The Akathist is read to him in life’s difficulties, but it is known that he has special grace when searching for lost things or missing people, as well as during famine, when necessary to protect crops and natural disasters.
Remember that prayer is not a conspiracy or a ritual. Pray with faith, know that the saints are our friends and intercessors before the Lord. Almighty God works miracles to deliver us from troubles in a wondrous manner. We can ask Him for help, trying to reconsider our lives ourselves, doing more good deeds, delving into our mistakes, and performing constant prayer.
The future martyr was an ordinary pious layman. However, he was known among his circle for the fact that, through his prayers, evil spirits came out of homes and from people. He became famous throughout the Roman Empire after expelling an evil spirit from the daughter of the emperor himself.
Advice
However, he never took rewards for his prayer work, saying that the best thing those healed by him could do for him was to lead a Christian life. After some time, the cruel Decius sat on the Roman throne, who turned out to be a hater of Christianity.
He began persecution of Christ's disciples: Christians were tortured, forced to renounce God, and killed.
They also denounced Saint Tryphon for preaching Christ. However, the saint refused to renounce the Lord even after torture. It is scary to read the description of his execution: after beating him with sticks and hooks, they drove nails into his feet and forced him to walk throughout the city. During these terrible tortures, he continued to pray to the Lord. Then the martyr Tryphon's head was cut off.
Tradition says that in his dying prayer he thanked the Lord for the strength to endure the torment and asked God to grant grace to those who remembered the name of Tryphon himself in prayers.
There is also evidence that Saint Tryphon died before he could be executed, exhausted from torture.
His venerable relics—as the bodies of the saints are called—were sent for veneration to Constantinople, and then to Rome.
Akathist to Saint Tryphon - a powerful prayer in different situations. It is customary to pray to him with a request
- about getting rid of crop damage,
- about getting rid of drought,
- healing in illnesses,
- dangers of famine,
- sudden natural disaster,
- loss of valuables.

The life of the martyr Tryphon describes a case when, after a desperate prayer to him, the royal falconer found a falcon that had flown away, for which he was responsible with his head. The falcon himself sat on the falconer's hand.
This case can be modernized: imagine that the limousine in which he transports the head of state was stolen from the president’s driver! And then they brought him back and threw him under the windows... It is not surprising that the incident with the falconer has reached our time. This is truly a miracle.

How to read the akathist correctly
Akathist (from the Greek Ο Ακάθιστος Ύμνος - “a song that is sung while standing”) is a type of poetic prayer glorifying God, the Mother of God or the saints.
When reading the akathist, a number of rules are observed. You should pray to the east, in front of the image of the saint. A lamp or candle is lit. It is important not to be distracted from reading, to concentrate. Diligence in prayer is rewarded with joy of heart and spirit.
Before the akathist, the opening prayers are read, which are in the morning and evening rules. The Akathist can be included in morning or evening prayers. In this case, it should be read at the end of the rule. Akathists consist of 12 ikos, 13 kontakia and closing prayers. According to the rules, the 13th kontakion is read three times with bows. Then the 1st ikos and 1st kontakion from the beginning of the akathist are repeated. Closing prayers follow. At the end of the akathist, “It is worthy to eat” is sung.
