The history of the appearance of the akathist to the icon of the Feodorovskaya Mother of God
Where and when the icon appeared is not known. The first mentions of it can be found in medieval sources. They indicate that the image was in the Gorodets Mother of God Monastery. In 1238, the city and the monastery were attacked by Batu. The monastery was burned, and the wondrous icon was lost.
The discovery of the shrine is attributed to various historical characters. Legends connect the icon either with the ruler of Kostroma Vasily Kvashnya, or with the family of Alexander Nevsky, his grandfather Yuri or brother Vasily.
According to legend, while driving along the banks of the Zaprudnya River, the prince noticed a wondrous icon on a tree, brought it to Kostroma and placed it in the temple of Theodore Stratilates. The icon was also named after the name of the church - Feodorovskaya. And in the place where the image was found, the Spaso-Zaprudnikovsky Monastery was built.
Since then, the Feodorovsky image of the Mother of God has become a revered shrine. It was they who blessed the marriage of young Alexander Nevsky. Since on the back of the relic there was an image of Saint Paraskeva Pyatnitsa, considered the patroness of the family and women, the belief spread among the people that praying to the image helps in marriage matters.
The relic protected the city's inhabitants from the Tatar invasion in 1260. The enemy outnumbered the princely squad in number of soldiers, but the ruler ordered the famous shrine to be carried ahead of the squad. Then the nomads retreated in a state of inexplicable horror.
The shore of the reservoir where these events took place was called the Holy Lake.
The most striking historical period was the time of the election of the new Romanov dynasty to the kingdom, when young Mikhail Fedorovich was elected sovereign at the Zemsky Sobor. The boyars went to bow to the new king in Kostroma. For a long time he refused to accept the burden of sovereign power, but in the end he admitted that the country needed him. Then the mother of the future ruler, nun Martha, blessed him with the Theodore Icon of the Mother of God.
After these events, the image was considered patronizing the Romanov family. The icon was kept in Kostroma, but detailed copies of it were always at court. Even when German princesses married Russian tsars, they received their patronymic - Fedorovna - in honor of this relic.
The significance of the shrine was so great that during the Soviet years it was kept and taken care of. In the post-revolutionary period, the golden robe with precious stones was removed from the image, but the image of the Mother of God itself was not damaged. In the thirties, the icon was restored in Moscow, where it was kept for quite a long time.
In 1991, the shrine was returned to its original place - in the Kostroma Epiphany-Anastasinsky Cathedral. The fact that an ancient relic was preserved and preserved for posterity is a real miracle. Pilgrims flock to the icon. People pray to the Heavenly Queen for intercession and help. If desired, many read akathists to the Theodore Mother of God.
Although it is not known who and when composed the akathist in honor of the Theodore Mother of God, the tradition of glorifying the image has a long history. Fragmentary legends convey information about heirs in the royal family, born after persistent prayers in front of the revered shrine. The miraculous effect of the image gained widespread fame.

What does it help with? Why do they pray?
Every girl and every woman dreams of her own family and children or works to ensure that happiness, peace and comfort reign in her home. It is the Feodorovskaya icon that people pray for family happiness and peace.
Often problems and hardships prevent you from enjoying life. Entertainment and work do not help depression. This is where the time for prayer comes. If there are problems, misunderstandings or even betrayals in your family, it is important to pray more to the Lord and the Mother of God. Prayer is help in any difficult situation. You need to visit the temple on time and begin the Church Sacraments, and also pray, for example, an akathist prayer to agree on the resolution of difficulties. The Feodorovskaya Icon of the Mother of God helps in many ways - it is known to many, since the image is very famous throughout Russia.
Pray also in case of poverty, troubles, material difficulties - after all, the Lord is the first Helper to every person in any difficult circumstances. Crises often occur in long-term relationships. Sometimes it seems that the family is collapsing, people want to separate and never see each other. Alas, violation of fidelity in marriage, betrayal, deception - all these sins are inherent in people. Sometimes, not because of evil intentions, but through negligence, your spouse can inflict such a wound on you. Pray for your husband’s admonition and don’t give up, talk to him yourself. The Orthodox Church blesses the desire to find love and create a good family. Christ said: “A man will leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife (unite with his wife), and the two will become one flesh (that is, one whole).” It’s not for nothing that husband and wife are officially considered to be “zero degree of relationship”
