The Tale of Peter and Fevronia
The cartoon “The Tale of Peter and Fevronia” is a fascinating journey into the distant 13th century. Prince Pavel is a wise and fair ruler of the Murom region. He is loved by the people because he always stands up for people, responds to any problems, without thinking about himself, and rushes to help.
Prince Pavel has a younger brother, Peter. Being young, he had not yet had time to gain much experience, patience, or calmness. The heart in your chest beats kindly, eager for bright emotions, strong feelings, exciting adventures. Peter is savvy, but impetuous, and sometimes serious troubles happen because of this.
Under two princes, the Murom region flourishes. And where great happiness and pleasure are born, black thoughts and evil deeds always strive. The Dark One is a sorcerer who harbors a burning grudge against Paul, Peter and all the people. The first time he appeared in the guise of a three-headed serpent, threatening ordinary people. Then Paul gathered his squad and went hunting, and Peter hurried after them. Together, the princes dealt with the monster, not even suspecting that a powerful villain was hiding behind it.
The dark one became even more angry. Wow, they easily took one of his lives! They cut off their heads, unless they took them apart for war trophies! Then the sorcerer decided to get to Murom, mix with the crowd and act on the sly.
Meanwhile, a young girl named Fevronia greeted the guest. The elder told her about the prediction. Very soon the region will cry bitter tears from the misfortune that is rapidly approaching. Peter should become the Savior, and she, Fevronia, should be next to him. But she never met the younger prince. Where should she go, a simple peasant woman from a small village? She spends every day at work and differs from others only in that she has the bright gift of a healer. For those who suffer from pain, Fevronia is always happy to help selflessly.
But one cannot argue with the Elder’s prediction. Since he said that Peter and Fevronia would be bound by strong love bonds that would help save the whole region, then this is how it should be. Otherwise, dire consequences cannot be avoided. Now the girl has to find a way to meet Peter, but she needs to act quickly before the villain takes decisive action.
The dark one wanders and wanders around the city. He eavesdrops on conversations and learns that the princess has long been dissatisfied with her husband Pavel, because he does not give expensive gifts, since he considers modesty to be the main human virtue. Taking advantage of the opportunity, the magician receives the tear of the unlucky wife and prepares to soon use it to harm everyone.
Dark times are coming. What is the Dark One up to and will he be able to bring his insidious plan to life? Will the princes of Murom be alive and well? Will true love connect the hearts of Peter and Fevronia?
The cartoon is intended for those who have already celebrated their sixth birthday. It will be interesting to watch for adults and children.
Ideal couples of our cinema

For Peter and Fevronia Day: 10 examples of an ideal marriage in Russian cinema
A still from the film “The Star of Captivating Happiness” The film by Vladimir Motyl, shot for the 150th anniversary of the Decembrist uprising, tells the story of the feat of the wives of the rebels - true heroines who selflessly followed their husbands into Siberian exile. The script is based on the book “In the Depths of Siberian Mines” by Arnold Gessen and the poem “Russian Women” by Nekrasov. The film tells the love story of the Decembrist Annenkov and the Frenchwoman Polina Goebl, as well as the fates of Ekaterina Trubetskoy and Maria Volkonskaya, who fought for the right to share the share of their husbands.
Still from the film “Three Poplars on Plyushchikha” A touching picture from the 60s by Tatyana Lioznova - about how a simple village woman (Tatyana Doronina), wife and mother of two children, came to the capital for three days to sell ham. A chance meeting with a taxi driver (Oleg Efremov) turned her world upside down, and the memories of this failed love will apparently remain in her memory forever. Her husband and children are waiting for her at home, who do not even suspect the feat of marital fidelity of the heroine.
Still from the film “My Dear Man” The film directed by Joseph Kheifits based on the novel by Yuri German “The Cause You Serve” tells the story of the doctor Vladimir Ustimenko (Alexey Batalov), for whom the words “duty” and “honor” are not just sounds, but meaning life. These principles were embodied in humble fidelity to his only love - love for Vara Stepanova (Inna Makarova), which he reverently carried throughout his life.
Still from the film “Prince Igor” The musical drama by Roman Tikhomirov is a film adaptation of the opera of the same name, which, in turn, is based on the Russian epic “The Tale of Igor’s Campaign”. Borodin’s amazing music uniquely illustrates the whole gamut of experiences of Igor’s wife, Yaroslavna, whose “cry” became the embodiment of the image of marital fidelity and devotion. And Igor himself calls his wife when they are apart nothing more than “dove”, “Lada”.
Still from the film “The Diamond Arm” One of the most popular and beloved Soviet comedies, Gaidaev’s “The Diamond Arm”, among other things, also represents an example of family loyalty and devotion. Semyon Gorbunkov, the hero of Yuri Nikulin, finds himself in a spy story, being tested by money, weapons and even beautiful girls. But nothing can force him to change his usual way of life, in the center of which his beloved wife (Nina Grebeshkova) and children invariably are.
Still from the film “Urga: Territory of Love” Nikita Mikhalkov’s painting is about how different worlds and eras can meet in a small yurt in the middle of the vast Mongolian steppes. There is the bitterness of the Russian, who was forced to go to China to work for his country, and the anecdotal situation of the main character, the steppe Mongolian Gombo, who is faced with the need to buy condoms because his family is already too big. Large, but strong: on an endless plain, two figures, a husband and a wife, seem like milestones on the canvas of eternity. The story is crowned by an urga stuck near the yurt (a pole with a noose that is used for catching livestock), which, according to custom, means that they are making love in this place.
Still from the film “April” Otar Ioseliani’s educational work, telling how a family is born, that love is its basis, breath and driving force. Everything else is just an addition. After all, true happiness is in each other, and not in everyday life. Philistinism, Ioseliani is convinced, is capable of destroying any bright feelings, but if you come to your senses and reject it (literally), then advice and love will win again.
Still from the film “Oatmeal” The main character of the film, Miron Alekseevich (Yuri Tsurilo), heads to the places where he once spent his honeymoon with his wife Tatyana (Yulia Aug). She is no longer alive, she is now just a memory. This time, familiar landscapes are involuntary witnesses of her burial.
Still from the film “Live” The plot of this film by Vasily Sigarev is based on the story of the most difficult life test - the loss of a loved one. The heroes have to figure out how to move on: resign themselves and try to accept fate, or fight and continue to believe in miracles?
Still from the film “Wait for Me” The melodrama film by Boris Ivanov and Alexander Stolper is based on the works of Konstantin Simonov. This is a front-line story of love and fidelity. The main character, Major Nikolai Ermolov (Boris Blinov), was considered dead even by his closest friends. Only his wife, Lisa (Valentina Serova), who, despite everything, waited for her beloved husband, refused to believe this. Victor Khristoforov

Peter and Fevronia Day July 8, 2021
The marriage of Peter and Fevronia is an example for all believers. Their married couple is the embodiment of Christian love, a family of fidelity.
The Day of Remembrance of Peter and Fevronia is celebrated annually on July 8th. From time immemorial, their marital union has personified piety and unshakable trust in the partner. The celebration acquired a national level: in 2008, the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity was timed to coincide with the church celebration. Prayers, traditions and customs of this day passed from mouth to mouth.
The legend of the love of Peter and Fevronia
The events that served as the basis for the legend of Peter and Fevronia took place in the 12th century, when the reins of government were in the hands of the Murom sovereign Peter. Peter suffered from leprosy, and in those distant times this disease was incurable, and inevitable death awaited the victim. Doctors circled around the prince, trying to get Peter to his feet. But all efforts were in vain: the disease could not be treated, getting worse every day. One difficult night, a message from Above came to Peter in a dream: he was told the name of the one who could cure him.
Fevronia was an ordinary peasant woman, but her character combined wisdom, holiness, righteousness and kindness. She knew how to use medicinal herbs and helped people recover from illnesses. Legends were made about her beauty. Possessing a pure heart, the girl could not refuse the prince who came to her. Peter's requests were supported by a promise to marry Fevronia as soon as the fatal illness subsided. But he deceived her, for which he was punished by the Lord: the receding illness returned with renewed vigor.
Fevronia did not refuse help a second time. Her kindness and selflessness conquered Peter. He looked at her differently and realized that a pure soul is the true value. After the magnificent wedding, the lovers experienced a lot of persecution. The lack of titles and blue blood deprived the girl of all powers to be the prince’s wife, to which Peter responded with a complete renunciation of power. The love of an ordinary peasant woman and her loyalty became dearer to him than all worldly goods. They continued to lead normal lives.
Having lived to an old age, having known each other's true love, Peter and Fevronia prayed that death would take them together. Life without a loved one seemed scary and impossible to them. The lovers wanted to be buried together. According to church canons, this was impossible and was contrary to faith, so their bodies were placed in different monasteries. However, a day later, Peter and Fevronia were posthumously reunited, ending up together in the same tomb.
How to celebrate the day of Peter and Fevronia
The beloved died on the same day and hour - July 8 (June 25, old style). From that day on, people in need of intercession and love come to their relics. The saints were buried in the city of Murom, in the Trinity Convent.
On this bright and pure holiday, clergy urge people to give up abundance of food and alcoholic beverages. The most important thing on the day of Peter and Fevronia is to show love, respect, care and support towards your loved one.
May this celebration become a constant source of strength for you in difficult times. People experiencing difficulties in family life can always turn to the intercession of saints in prayer or a personal visit to their burial place. They are the ones you should pray to in moments of grief: the saints will help and send peace to your family, strengthen the bonds of love and family happiness.
Prayer to Saints Peter and Fevronia of Murom
Pious spouses renounced all worldly goods in the name of pure and bright love. Their loyalty and humility, as well as genuine feelings for their partner, are an example for every believer. Peter and Fevronia are placed by the clergy on the same level as the great martyrs. They are called upon in moments of testing, begged for fidelity and love, asked to strengthen marriage bonds and help in finding a soul mate. You can bless your marriage and gain the intercession of the saints with the help of a prayer that should be read on Memorial Day:
“Pleasers of God, Peter and Fevronia, I come to you in prayer. Raise the sinful requests of God’s servants (name) to the Almighty and beg him for help and blessing. Give us hope, faith, love, godliness and good life. Saints, intercede for sincere love and send it into our hearts, so that we can be distinguished by righteous lives and pious deeds during our lifetime and inherit the Kingdom of Heaven together and inseparably. In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen".
Peter and Fevronia were canonized and to this day are the patrons of marriage, love and fidelity. Their life is an indicator not only of sincere faith, but also of genuine feelings. Love and be loved. We wish you happiness, success, a strong family,
